More Information
[edit]On this page we could get a background of the Islamic Empire and why they wanted to translate these pieces. Also this article could include some well known people including the Nestorian Christian Hunayn ibn-Ishaq. More works that were translated can also be added as well as how the people reacted to these new readings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chriscorbaz (talk • contribs) 06:36, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
Proposed Edit
[edit]The paragraph for Hunayn ibn Ishaq is under the Umayyad Period, but the translator actually lived and worked during the Abbasid Period.--Ncdanie (talk) 17:33, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
The cited source "History of Translation in the Arab World: An Overview" by Mehawesh is not a peer reviewed article. I suggest deleting it. --Ncdanie (talk) 22:37, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
The entire section on the Rashidun Caliphate Period lacks any citation and should be removed or supported by a reliable source. I will likely delete and replace with supported statements regarding the translation of the Koran and the effect that had on the translation movement as a whole. --Ncdanie (talk) 22:57, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
"The Academy of Gundishapur" from the Iran Review is not a peer reviewed source. This is a web page and should not be relied upon as a citation. I will likely delete all content supported by this source. --Ncdanie (talk) 23:04, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
Rather than having an "Islamic Golden Age" section with many subsections, I think it would be more apt to delete the header and upgrade a few of these subsections to bonified sections while fleshing out their content a bit more. --Ncdanie (talk) 23:09, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
I'm going to replace the article summary since it is not supported with a citation. --Ncdanie (talk) 00:50, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
After I removed all content that lacked citation or cited "History of Translation in the Arab World: An Overview" by Mehawesh, which is an unreliable source, the section "Umayyad Period" became practically empty. I'm going to delete and replace the whole section because what is left after my previous edits is mostly irrelevant or lacking previous context. --Ncdanie (talk) 01:10, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
With the amount of editing I've done to delete portions of this article that were unsupported, cited unreliable sources, or misrepresented their cited sources there is almost nothing left of the article. I propose that the whole article, other than the summary, be replaced. --Ncdanie (talk) 01:22, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
